Truth or Dare by Danielle Allen, ( Book Review, By Tabitha)

Updated: Nov 4, 2021

Genre: African American Erotica Romance

Rating: 4.5/5

Love was in the air and intimate unions were forming in this steamy romantic yet, comedic novel. But there was a question that begged for an answer- Had love been staring Simone Jeffries in the face all these years and she just couldn’t see it?” Well it definitely seems that way.

Nine college friends forged laughs and lasting bonds over the age old game, “Truth and Dare”. 11 years later these best friends meet in Punta Cana for a destination wedding.

And in typical fashion, the crew wants to reacquaint themselves with their favorite game.

During the game, Kingston Wright excepts the dare to kiss Simone Jeffries. Neither knew the kiss would ignite a physical attraction that just won’t die down. Until minds and bodies meet, they learn it’s not just physical. Who knew? They didn’t.

Ms. Allen has written a “friends to lovers” romance comedy that keeps you engaged and laughing from beginning to end. She gives us a variety of characters that add flavor to the story. With Simone and Kingston as the focal points, who are unexpectedly thrown into feelings for each other, she brings other interesting dramas into this developing romance that adds a little bit of conflict and juiciness to the plot. There wasn’t a dull moment.

I love the way Ms. Allen gives us background information of the friends which helps us understand the dynamics of the friends 11 years later. Her use of comedy is refreshing and lightens the mood of the story.

And I would not be doing my job if I don’t praise Ms. Allen for penning some of the sexiest and steamiest sex scenes. Whew, she took “getting to know you” to a whole other level. I wasn’t mad at all. Kingston had it going on and will indeed turned you on. I’m just saying. The sex was hot.

My only complaint is that I wish we had a different ending. But it is a definite book to read.
